The main objective of the WFI Prom Project is to provide a platform for high school students who have demonstrated academic achievements, community involvement, and financial need. Low-income families struggle to send their teenagers to prom, and many are aware that finances are an issue, so they avoid the idea and desire to go. Fast fashion leaves girls disappointed with the cheap imitations of what they viewed online, and local boutiques and stores can't offer validity to their unique style and personality. With Woven's Prom Project, we are giving 10-15 girls a chance to work with WFI Designers to empower them to see themselves as worthy while equipping them with the right mentorship that builds character and value. The WFI Prom Project will span from October 2023 to May 2024. The selected high school girls will work closely with WFI designers throughout this period on the design process, sourcing materials, construction, fittings, and the final prom celebrations. The journey and progress of the collaboration will be documented in a series of 6-7 monthly episodes, each highlighting the growth, creativity, and empowerment experienced by the students and designers.
We are accepting gowns that you no longer desire to keep! You can contact us by emailing us when you would like to stop in or you can reach out to us by calling 704-603-4440 to schedule time to drop your dresses off. Designers will be using the dresses to create one of a kind designs for the students they are paired with! Thank you in advance for your donation.
